Eleanor & Rob - Ferens Art Gallery, Hull
Eleanor & Rob’s engagement shoot at Ferens Art Gallery in Hull had a very clear feel from the start—cinematic, minimal, and slightly editorial.
The gallery itself set the tone straight away. Clean lines, soft light, and just enough structure to frame things without taking over. It’s the kind of space where you don’t need to overdo anything—you just pay attention to what’s already there and work with it.
We kept the approach simple and considered. Small movements, subtle direction, and letting each frame breathe a bit. Nothing rushed, nothing forced. Eleanor and Rob made that easy—they slipped into it naturally, which meant we could focus on refining moments rather than creating them from scratch.
As the shoot went on, it took on a more romantic feel without really trying. The quietness of the space helped, but it was mostly down to them.
We moved through the gallery picking out different backdrops, keeping everything clean and intentional. A mix of stillness and movement, without overcomplicating things. It ended up feeling more like a series of frames than a traditional engagement shoot—something a bit more styled, but still honest.
This turned out to be one of my favourite shoots. I adore how the photos turned out and I wish I could photograph venues like this on a daily basis!
